This traditional style rod features an original Ford body that has been chopped 4”.
Other custom touches include a steel-filled roof, molded visor, rounded drip rails, filled cowl, smoothed firewall, and modified one-piece hood to flow into the steel 32 ford grill shell with a custom Bonneville inspired grill. The splash aprons have been lengthened to further enhance the aesthetics up front. All have been covered in a near flawless Silver PPG metallic finish and tasteful pinstriping. It features Drake headlights with integrated turn signals and a chopped windshield that retains its functionality to open. A smoothed Hagen fuel door blends seamlessly into the body lines and the rumble seat has been converted to a trunk lid. The floor has been channeled wedge style providing maximum interior space. Taillights are of 1950 Pontiac amber vintage. Glass is perfect and expertly installed. The look is completed with a period perfect set of American Racing Torque Thrust wheels in 15” diameter wrapped in 15×5” Firestone Deluxe Champion tires up front and Firestone Dragster 10-15” street slicks out back. Wheels have custom aluminum drag caps to complete the vintage look.
The fully finished interior is an incredibly clean statement featuring wool loop carpet, Wise Guys tilting seat with hidden storage underneath, and two pockets in the rear. A custom saddle bag on the passenger side holds needed paperwork and an electric heating unit takes the chill off if it cools off while you’re on a drive. Occupants are held to the seat with 3 Julianos belts with chrome lift latches. The Interior is fully finished with matching door panels, headliner, trunk area, and matching separator all done in the same quality finish. The stock dash has been filled and smoothed with Classic Instrument gauges. The chrome Ididit tilt column holds a 13.5 classic wheel and SoCal signal arms. A spoon-style gas pedal, SoCal aluminum brake pedals handle to go and the whoa while a chrome drop panel holds signal and power indicator lights. An EZ wiring harness with a fuse panel (under the seat) is neatly routed and powered by an Optima battery with a cutoff switch.
The foundation of this build is a completely boxed and smoothed TCI chassis. With brake and fuel line cleanly routed internally and both front and rear 4 bar mounts filled and smoothed. Many custom touches have been applied to this build such as smoothed custom headlamp mounts, modified front rail for wiring, custom shock mounts and chrome shocks, a Pete and Jakes 4” drop axle, front and rear Panhard bars, rear anti-sway bar, parallel 4 links holding a smoothed Ford 8.8 inch rear end with adjustable Alden coil-over springs. All of this was finished with the same outstanding silver metallic finish.
The heart of this classic is a tried and true 350 cubic inch SBC. A mild build starts with a 4-bolt main 010 casting block with a Crane Cam, Holly intake and carb, and MSD ignition. Dressed to kill, the powerplant is tastefully adorned with Cal Custom valve covers, finned oil pan, flywheel cover, alternator with custom mounts, chrome pullies, starter, regulator, and coil cover. All of this has been topped with a custom painted and striped matching Caddy-style batwing air cleaner. The engine is kept cool with a Walker radiator, electric fan, and custom shroud. Shifting duties are handled by a rebuilt and painted TH350 automatic with a finned aluminum pan and Lokar shifter and dipstick. It’s fed by a 10-gallon spun aluminum fuel cell and filler neck. Braking is handled by Wilwood discs in the front with Pete and Jake’s finned backing plates that have been fully polished. It used a dual master cylinder, stainless braided lines, powder-coated hardlines, wildwood valves, and rebuilt Ford drums on the rear. Exhaust exits through a set of baffled side pipes that sound exactly how this car looks!
This car has approximately 330 pampered miles on it since completion. It presents itself exceptionally well and turns heads anywhere it goes.
