This 1940 Ford Deluxe convertible coupe is said to have been in the current owner’s family for over 70 years and was refurbished around 2010. The car is powered by a 221ci flathead V8 mated to a three-speed manual transmission and is finished in green over brown vinyl. Equipment includes a black convertible top, body-color 16″ steel wheels, hydraulic drum brakes, a single horn, a single side mirror, an under-dash heater. This 1940 Deluxe is now offered by the seller on behalf of its late owner’s estate in Los Angeles, California, with service records and a Colorado title.
The bodywork was refinished in green around 10-15 years ago and features a replacement black convertible top with red piping as well as a single horn, dual chevron-style taillights, Deluxe badging, running boards, and a single side mirror.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 6.00-16 Firestone wide-whitewall tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel hydraulic drums that received a system flush in February 2025, at which time the brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders were replaced.
The cabin features a split front and solid rear bench upholstered in brown vinyl. Interior appointments include roll-up side windows, a clock in the glovebox door, and an under-dash heater. The rear seat is scratched.
The steering wheel sits ahead of a sweeping 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles, approximately 90k of which were added under current family ownership.
The 221ci flathead V8 was factory rated at 85 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. Work in February 2025 included replacing points, overhauling the carburetor and fuel pump, draining the fuel tank, and replacing a fuel line and fuel tank float. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission.
